This Greenhoe dual rotor in-line tenor trombone valve section is a truly unique, one-of-a-kind build by Gary Greenhoe, the founder of Greenhoe Trombones. This valve section represents a rare and innovative approach to tenor trombone design that is almost never seen in the market.
Unlike traditional tenor trombones, which almost always use a single valve section (or, on rare occasions, a single valve plus a second dependent valve), this valve section features a fully independent dual rotor setup. Dual rotor configurations are typically reserved for bass trombones, making this build exceptionally rare among tenor instruments.
This valve section was set up with a tuning slide for a Bach large bore (.547) bell section and was also optimized to fit S.E. Shires 8.5" bell sections, as well as .547 or .562 Shires bass handslides. The section was lightly used and never performed publicly, remaining in superb condition.
After Gary Greenhoeβs retirement, his company was acquired by Schilke, and today Greenhoe components continue to be respected for their precision, innovative design, and outstanding playability. Gary's original builds are especially prized among serious collectors and professional players due to their rarity and the personal craftsmanship that went into each piece.
This particular valve section offers an extraordinary opportunity to explore custom setups and unique tonal possibilities that are virtually impossible to find elsewhere in the tenor trombone world.
This listing is part of our Archive of Sold Instruments and serves as a historical reference for Greenhoe enthusiasts and advanced trombonists interested in rare custom builds.
