Historical Reference
Originally developed as part of the marching brass family, the Kanstul Flugelbone quickly earned a following among jazz musicians, commercial performers, studio players, and doublers seeking a unique sound that blends the warmth of a flugelhorn with the versatility of a valve trombone.
This particular example required no mechanical service, exhibited excellent valve compression, and had no dents or dings. It included the original factory case and mouthpiece, both of which were also in outstanding condition.
Following the closure of Kanstul around 2019, American-made Flugelbones of this quality have become increasingly difficult to locate. While many modern marching brass instruments are now manufactured overseas, Kanstul instruments remain well regarded for their craftsmanship, durable construction, and professional playing characteristics.
