Edwards T-350E Tenor Trombone – Original Thayer, Dual-Bore Slide

Overview

This Edwards T-350E is a professional large-bore tenor trombone featuring an original Thayer axial-flow valve, dual-bore handslide, raw-brass #285CF bell, and sterling silver leadpipe. It was thoroughly reconditioned in our shop and was in outstanding playing condition when offered.

The T-350E has been one of the most successful professional modular trombones of the modern era. This particular setup combines plenty of power and tonal depth with a remarkably flexible response. It would be equally suitable for orchestral playing, solo work, brass ensemble, or any setting requiring a full large-bore tenor sound.

Bell and Valve Section

The #285CF bell is in raw brass and offers a vibrant, colorful response with plenty of projection. The remainder of the instrument retains its lacquer finish, creating an attractive contrast between the bell flare and the rest of the assembly.

The original Thayer axial-flow valve provides an open, direct feel through the F attachment. This valve design was an important part of the original Edwards T-350E concept and helped establish the model as a serious alternative to traditional rotary-valve orchestral trombones.

Dual-Bore Handslide and Leadpipe

The handslide has a .547/.562-inch dual bore, giving the instrument an excellent balance of flexibility, stability, and power. The smaller upper tube helps preserve response and articulation, while the larger lower tube adds breadth and capacity as the player moves through the register.

A sterling silver leadpipe adds clarity and definition to the articulation. Combined with the dual-bore slide and raw-brass bell, it creates a setup that can play with considerable depth without feeling overly broad or slow.

Condition and Professional Reconditioning

This trombone had no history of damage and showed no dents, creases, or evidence of structural repair. It was professionally cleaned, inspected, and adjusted in our shop for optimal playability.

The handslide, valve, linkage, tuning slides, and general mechanical condition were all addressed during setup. The instrument required no additional service and was ready for professional use when offered.

Included Marco Magi Leather Case

The trombone included a brand-new Marco Magi leather case handmade in Italy. The case was equipped with backpack straps and provided excellent protection for the complete instrument.

At approximately eight pounds empty, the case offered substantial protection without becoming excessively heavy for a full-size professional tenor case. It also paired beautifully with the Edwards trombone, both functionally and visually.

This was a particularly attractive T-350E configuration. The raw-brass #285CF bell supplied vibrance and color, the dual-bore slide provided flexibility and power, and the original Thayer valve preserved the open response for which the model became known.
