EDWARDS

The Edwards Bass Trombone with Independent Axials and Dual Bore slide represents one of the most advanced custom-built orchestral bass trombones available. Edwards, based in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, has earned a reputation for producing some of the finest professional-level trombones in the world, and this example highlights the company’s commitment to quality and innovation.

This particular horn, a single-owner instrument, was kept in excellent condition and features all original parts and lacquer. When it arrived, we performed a complete shop service, including a chemical bath, valve service, and slide alignment. The result is a bass trombone that is clean, free from dents or dings, and playing at its absolute best. The lacquer remains in outstanding condition with no signs of previous repair work or trauma.

The setup includes a 10" yellow brass bell, Model 1371, paired with a dual bore .562–.578 handslide. Four removable leadpipes are included, giving the player the ability to customize resistance and response. This trombone also comes with mouthpiece options, extra spare parts, and the original Edwards factory case.

Edwards designed this model as the supreme orchestral bass trombone, capable of producing a huge, dark sound with the ability to deliver a massive wall of resonance when required. It is equally well suited for large ensemble work, symphony orchestras, or advanced players seeking a pro-level instrument that can meet the highest demands of performance.

Compared to factory-fresh models, which today retail in the $6,000–$7,000 range, this pre-owned Edwards offered exceptional value. With no additional work needed to improve playability or appearance, it stood as a ready-to-play professional instrument built with genuine American craftsmanship.
