✦ Historical Overview
This Conn 78H, built in 1951 during the celebrated Elkhart era, represents one of Conn’s most balanced professional tenor trombones. It retains all original parts and lacquer, recently serviced with a freshly aligned handslide that plays effortlessly. The 8-inch yellow-brass bell and .522 bore give it a rich yet focused tone — a shade darker than the Conn 6H and slightly smaller in feel than a Bach 36.
A perfect example of mid-century Conn craftsmanship, this horn remains a favorite among players seeking projection and smooth response in a medium-bore design.
