CONN

Conn 6H Vintage Elkhart SN 872548, made in 1960. Excellent overall condition with all original parts and lacquer intact. This is a fantastic-sounding and properly playing 6H—responsive, vibrant, and full of personality.

Personally, I got hooked on this model over 15 years ago when I found out that Frank Rosolino played one throughout most of his legendary career. If you're not already familiar with Frank, I recommend looking him up—his recordings speak for themselves and highlight just how capable the 6H can be in the hands of a master.

This particular horn would be an ideal all-around commercial jazz trombone for any serious player. It has an 8" yellow brass bell and a gold brass .500 bore slide. The slide is excellent—very straight tubing with no inner plating wear or mechanical issues.

Interestingly, the 6H I use most often is a slightly later Elkhart model from the late 1960s, and I’ve noticed that this earlier 1960 example feels like it has a slightly heavier bell. That extra weight brings a bit more authority and density to the sound, and pitch centers seem to lock in easily. It’s a strong and expressive player with plenty of character.

Includes a brand new lightweight case.

Q: Why is the Conn 6H such a popular choice among jazz players?
A: Its .500 bore and yellow brass bell give it exceptional flexibility and responsiveness, making it perfect for lead and solo jazz work. The 6H is one of the most iconic small bore trombones ever made.

This Conn 6H has been sold and is now shown here as a historical reference for collectors and jazz trombone enthusiasts.
