✦ Historical Perspective
Built in Elkhart, Indiana during Conn’s golden period, the 6H was designed for players seeking brightness, projection, and ease of control. This 1962 example, serial #964167, retains all original parts and lacquer, showing honest wear that reflects years of performance use. The handslide—though showing visible wear spots on one inner tube—remains straight, responsive, and smooth, easily passing the “falls-with-gravity” test that defines a well-set-up Conn slide.
Our shop performed a complete service and cleaning, ensuring that this horn is mechanically reliable and free of any structural issues. With its compact feel and singing upper register, the 6H continues to stand as one of the most balanced small-bore tenors ever made.
🕰️ Photography Note
The photos shown were taken in the early years of The Brass Exchange, before we refined our lighting and image-capture process. They remain valuable as a historical record but do not fully reflect our current fine-art photography standards. Modern images of similar instruments demonstrate the true depth and finish detail achieved by Elkhart Conn craftsmanship.
