Conn 5H Vintage .500 Bore Jazz Trombone, SN GA4700362 – Made in 1974

This is a classic Elkhart-era Conn 5H, built in 1974 during the tail end of the golden age of American brass manufacturing. It features an 8" yellow brass bell paired with a .500 bore lightweight brass slide, offering a vibrant and responsive tone ideal for jazz and commercial settings.

The 5H shares many similarities with the popular 6H model but has a lighter slide, making it easier to maneuver and more comfortable for extended playing sessions. All parts are original, including the lacquer, and the horn has received a full shop once-over. The handslide is in excellent conditionβ€”no plating loss, super straight tubes, and precise alignment. It plays fast and clean.

Cosmetically and mechanically, this trombone is ready to go. No additional service is needed. Comes with the original Conn case.

What is the difference between a Conn 5H and 6H trombone?
The Conn 5H and 6H are nearly identical in terms of bore size and bell dimensions, both popular among jazz players. The key difference is that the 5H features a lightweight slide, which can improve response and reduce fatigue. This makes the 5H a great option for players who prioritize speed and flexibility.
