8.5" Yellow Brass

Conn 50H Medium Bore Tenor with F-attachment, made in 1970, SN N19049. This model features an 8.5" yellow brass bell paired with a .522 bore brass handslide, and takes a small shank trombone mouthpiece. Originally marketed to students, but in reality, the build quality, materials, and feel are very much in line with Conn’s professional horns from the Elkhart era.

All parts and lacquer are original. This one has never been damaged or repaired. We completed full shop service including a chemical bath and full mechanical inspection. The slide action is excellent—straight tubes, no plating loss, and superb alignment. The F-attachment rotor is quick and responsive, and the horn plays very open and even throughout all registers.

It would be a great option for anyone looking for a medium-large bore tenor with trigger, especially advancing players or doubling professionals looking for a lighter F-attachment setup. Original Conn case included.

What is the difference between a Conn 50H and larger bore trigger tenors like the 88H?

The Conn 50H is a medium-large bore (.522"), making it more nimble and easier to play than the standard .547" bore found on large bore models like the 88H. While it still delivers the benefits of an F-attachment, the 50H offers a lighter response, which can be ideal for players who want greater flexibility or are transitioning from straight tenor horns. The tone is centered and rich but slightly brighter and more focused than a full symphonic bore.

This Conn 50H has been sold and now appears here as a historical reference for collectors and Conn enthusiasts.
