CONN

This Conn 32H was made in 1952 (SN 405893), during the Elkhart golden era, and is part of a rare lineage of dual bore jazz trombones designed by the legendary Jake Burkle. Built with a .500–.522 dual bore slide, the 32H offers the flexibility and power needed for both lead and section work, with a uniquely easy upper register and secure slotting.

It features a 7.5" yellow brass bell, gold brass handslide, and a nickel silver end crook. One of its most distinctive traits is the conical end crook, found on only a few select Conn models such as the 28H, 30H, and 32H. This design contributes to a responsive, focused feel — especially in jazz and commercial playing environments.

The bell has the classic half-moon deco Conn engraving, with all original lacquer and hardware intact. The finish has developed a beautiful aged patina, giving it that classic look that vintage players love. The bell rim is unsoldered, consistent with other Conn small bore jazz models like the 6H.

We performed a full shop service, and the horn is in excellent shape with no dents or prior damage. The handslide tubes are true and straight, with smooth action. There is minor plating loss on the inner tubes, but nothing that inhibits slide feel when properly lubricated.

This is a player’s horn — full of color, warmth, and character — perfect for lead or section work in a jazz band or big band setting. Comes with a brand new Gator case.

What makes the Conn 32H special among vintage Conn trombones?
The 32H was one of only a few models designed with a dual bore slide and conical end crook, making it acoustically distinct. It was crafted under the guidance of Jake Burkle, the engineer behind many of Conn’s finest jazz models. Compared to the more common 6H, the 32H offers a slightly more focused core, smoother slotting, and a vibrant upper register — all without sacrificing the warmth Conn is known for.
