Historical Overview
This Conn 100H professional .500-inch bore jazz tenor trombone was made during the early 1990s. It has been sold and is preserved here as part of The Brass Exchange Archive of Sold Instruments.
Designed as a modern interpretation of the classic Conn 6H concept, the 100H offered quick response, clean articulation, and the focused tonal character associated with professional small-bore Conn trombones.
This was a one-owner instrument in excellent original condition. It retained its original lacquer and components and included three removable leadpipes and the original Conn case.
The bell had never been damaged or repaired, the inner slide tubes showed no plating loss or red rot, and the handslide action was quick and smooth. At the time of sale, this was a clean and properly playing example with no additional work needed.
Player Perspective
The Conn 100H belongs to the same general family of playing characteristics as the legendary Conn 6H: immediate response, a centered tonal core, and easy articulation. Its .500-inch bore made it particularly well suited for jazz, commercial playing, lead work, and small ensembles.
A distinctive feature was the Larry Minick-style tuning-slide brace system. Its minimal and efficient design contributed to the instrument’s clean appearance and balanced feel.
