Bach USA Model 1103 Bb Baritone–Euphonium Brass Lacquer – Shop Serviced & Player Ready

This Bach USA three-valve baritone–euphonium (model 1103) is a solid, school-ready brass instrument ideal for new players, band programs, or anyone who needs a dependable second horn. Many band students struggle with the daily chore of carrying a large instrument back and forth — and that’s often one of the main reasons kids lose interest in band during the middle-school years. Having a dedicated “school horn” fixes that problem immediately.

This example has already served one student through several school years and shows normal cosmetic signs of use, but it plays properly and has been fully serviced here in our shop. It represents a budget-friendly alternative to renting, which can quickly become more expensive than simply owning an instrument outright.

Our shop performed a complete service, including a chemical bath, internal cleaning, new felts and valve pads, and a professional piston-valve lap (a repair-shop process using lapping compound to ensure smooth, even valve action). The valves operate properly, seal correctly, and the horn has no functional leaks or issues. It includes the original case, mouthpiece, and a fresh bottle of valve oil.

A comparable new student-level euphonium from brands such as Jupiter, Yamaha, or Eastman typically starts around $2,700 today. This pre-owned Bach model is priced at a fraction of that, making it ideal for:

– Parents wanting an affordable solution for school band
– Students who need a horn they can keep at school
– College music-education majors who must learn multiple instruments on a budget
– Anyone wanting a reliable “backup horn” for lessons, pep band, or parade use

Cosmetically, the horn has a few small dings on the top bow and bottom bow — normal for a school-used euphonium — and all reflected fairly in the price.

FAQs

Is this a good choice for a beginning band student?
Yes. It plays well, the valves function smoothly, and the price is far below rental-program costs. It’s a dependable entry-level euphonium for any young player starting out.

Why keep a baritone/euphonium at school?
Because these instruments are bulky, heavy, and awkward to carry — especially when students already have backpacks, books, coats, lunch, and other items. A dedicated “school horn” can make band participation much easier and more enjoyable.

Can a college music-education major use this?
Absolutely. College students studying music education must learn all the brass instruments. A budget-friendly used euphonium is perfect for practicing the fundamentals without investing in a new horn.

How does this compare to a brand-new student euphonium?
New student models from major brands often start near $2,700. This Bach costs far less, has been serviced, and will handle the needs of most beginning and intermediate players.
