This Bach Corporation 7C small shank trombone mouthpiece was produced during the Elkhart, Indiana era, manufactured between approximately 1963 and the late 1970s. Mouthpieces from this period were made using traditional lathe-cut production methods rather than modern CNC machining, a distinction that many players associate with the classic Bach feel, response, and tonal consistency that defined the Corporation era.
The Bach 7C is one of the most familiar and widely respected small-shank designs in Bach’s lineup. With a 24.75 mm rim diameter, it sits on the larger end of the small-shank spectrum, offering a comfortable, open feel while maintaining clarity and control. The 7C’s cup profile produces a balanced, centered sound that works well across a wide range of musical settings, from jazz and commercial playing to general ensemble work.
This particular mouthpiece is offered in excellent, near-perfect condition and retains its original silver plating. It has been professionally cleaned and polished in our shop and is fully player-ready, with no issues affecting fit, response, or playability. Examples from the Elkhart era in this level of condition are increasingly difficult to find.
