Bach

This vintage Bach 6 trombone is a rare example from the New York era, built before the company’s move to Mt. Vernon. Serial number 2305, dating to around 1943, places it right in the heart of the big band period.

Finished in its original silver plate, this horn was likely a special-order instrument at the time. The 6 model was the standard for lead and solo trombonists of the 1930s and ’40s — if you were traveling with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, this is the model you might have been expected to play. Its sound defined the era, and even today it retains that same vibrant color and focus.

  • Bore: Small bore, with 7" bell

  • Slide: Standard weight handslide, professionally serviced

  • Condition: No dents or dings; some plating loss on the bell, but overall excellent for its age

  • Service: Full shop chemical bath and once-over; slide tubes are straight and free of plating defects
