Bach

This is a vintage Bach 42 bell section from the sought-after Corporation Era, made in Elkhart, Indiana after the move from Mount Vernon but before production changes in the late 1970s. Featuring an 8.5" yellow brass bell flare with its original tuning slide and factory balance weight, this bell retains all original lacquer and parts.

Condition is excellent for its age β€” no dents, no trauma, and no evidence of red rot. The lacquer shows only minor wear consistent with light use. The bell plays freely and projects with the classic Bach resonance and tonal warmth that made the 42 model a favorite among orchestral players.

This bell section would make an excellent choice for players looking to build a straight tenor setup, or for a 42B player who wants to experiment with removing the F-attachment for a more open feel. It could also serve as a valuable component for a restoration project or backup bell in a modular system.

What defines a β€œCorporation Era” Bach bell?
The term refers to instruments produced in the early Elkhart period, after the Bach company was sold but before major design and tooling changes occurred. Many players seek these bells for their blend of craftsmanship, tonal clarity, and consistent build quality β€” attributes that changed in later production years.
