Bach

This vintage Bach 36B tenor trombone, serial number 86762, dates from the mid-1980s β€” a classic era of Bach craftsmanship known for its warm, resonant tone and versatile playability. With its .525 medium-large bore, the 36B strikes an ideal balance between the breadth of a symphonic horn and the agility of a smaller-bore instrument.

The 8" yellow brass bell with traditional rotor F-attachment delivers the unmistakable Bach sound β€” colorful, rich, and blending beautifully in ensemble settings. It retains its original lacquer and parts, showing normal cosmetic wear for its age. Here at The Brass Exchange, we performed professional bell dent work to restore its shape. A faint line remains visible on both the outer and inner surfaces where the crease once was, but the bell is now completely straight and sits perfectly flat on a table. The repair is cosmetic only and has no effect on playability, response, or resonance.

The handslide is in very good condition, with excellent alignment, smooth action, and no structural issues. There is modest lacquer wear in grip areas, typical for a well-cared-for vintage trombone.

Fully serviced here at The Brass Exchange, including a chemical bath, rotor service, and slide adjustment, this 36B is ready to play at its full potential.

The Bach 36B has long been prized by players needing one horn that can cover multiple roles β€” from orchestral section work and pops concerts to commercial gigs, jazz, and solo performance. For decades, the medium-large bore size has been the preferred choice for many professional orchestral trombonists, offering tonal depth with plenty of control. It’s also an excellent choice for advancing students and adult players seeking a classic Bach sound that will grow with them.

This would be a fantastic trigger horn for an advancing young player looking for something pro- level without the high cost.  This is .525 Bore and ideal for young players moving up in size or for experienced players looking to move down in size.

Includes Original Bach case in good condition. Mouthpiece not included.
