This Bach 36B tenor trombone from the early 1990s is a fine example of the model’s versatility and enduring appeal. Built with a .525 medium-large bore and 8" yellow brass bell, it offers a balanced blend of tonal depth and agility — equally capable in orchestral, pops, commercial, or solo settings.

The traditional rotor F-attachment allows for extended low register work without sacrificing clarity or response. The horn retains its original lacquer and parts, showing only minimal cosmetic wear for its age. There are no dents or dings, and overall cosmetic presentation is clean, making it a well-preserved piece for its era.

We performed a complete professional service here at The Brass Exchange, including a chemical bath, rotor maintenance, and precise handslide alignment. The valve action is smooth and tight, and the slide operates freely with excellent alignment. The grip area shows light lacquer wear, typical for a well-cared-for vintage instrument, but the tubes are true and free of plating issues.

Players who know the Bach 36B appreciate its ability to bridge the gap between smaller, more agile trombones and the broader, more powerful symphonic horns. The medium-large bore size provides enough projection for ensemble work while retaining ease of control for intricate passages. For decades, it has been a go-to choice for professional orchestral players, educators, and advancing students seeking a horn that can adapt to multiple roles.

This example would make an excellent first trigger trombone for an advancing student or a reliable medium-bore option for a pro player looking to diversify their collection.

Includes the original Bach case in good condition. Mouthpiece not included.
