Overview
This Antoine Courtois Prestige 400 Symphony Tenor Trombone is a large-bore straight tenor built in France and part of Courtois’ professional Prestige line. The instrument features an 8.5″ yellow brass bell, .547 bore lightweight handslide, removable nickel silver leadpipe, and modular construction allowing for optional valve section compatibility.
The trombone presented in clean structural condition with minimal cosmetic wear. The handslide operated smoothly following inspection, and the bell section showed no mechanical issues. An Alteri gig bag was included with the instrument.
Prestige-series Courtois trombones are respected examples of modern French brass instrument design.
Player Perspective
Large-bore straight tenor trombones are often chosen by players who want the response and balance of a large-bore instrument without an F-attachment. Instruments like the Courtois Prestige 400 work well for orchestral section playing, chamber music, and general large-bore tenor use.
Clean examples remain attractive to players interested in professional-level European-built trombones with modular flexibility.
📸 Photography From Our Early Archive
