Overview
This pre-owned S.E. Shires Ralph Sauer Artist Model detachable bell flare offers the playing characteristics of the Sauer rose brass bell in a compact, travel-friendly configuration. It is an excellent choice for a current Shires player looking for the convenience and portability of a detachable flare.
The 8.5-inch medium-weight rose brass bell produces a rich, colorful sound with excellent projection. It is particularly well suited for all-around tenor trombone playing and can be used with either a .547-inch or .525/.547-inch dual-bore handslide configuration.
Condition
The bell is slightly used and remains in nearly perfect condition. There are no dents, previous repairs, or mechanical concerns.
A narrow area of cosmetic acid bleed is visible along approximately one-quarter of the rim on the right side when viewing the assembled bell. The affected area is about one-quarter inch wide. This is a manufacturing-related lacquer condition rather than damage or structural corrosion, and it is not expected to spread or worsen. It is purely cosmetic and has no effect on the performance of the bell.
