This Monette Prana TT5 is an earlier-generation, large-shank tenor trombone mouthpiece with 24-karat gold plating. The TT designation identifies it as a tenor trombone model, while the 5 places it approximately in conventional Bach 5G size territory.

Monette mouthpieces are designed differently from traditional Bach-style mouthpieces. The Prana internal configuration was developed to provide a more consistent pitch center, response and tonal character throughout the register. Monette encourages an open, neutral playing approach rather than the physical adjustments players often develop when using more conventional equipment.

The modern successor is the Monette Prana TT5 S1, which Monette describes as comparable in general size to a conventional 5G. Current large-shank Monette trombone mouthpieces are made to order, with gold-plated examples priced at approximately $479. This earlier TT5 predates the current S1 designation, so it should not be assumed to have exactly the same internal dimensions as the present model.

The 24-karat gold-plated rim and cup provide a smooth playing surface and remain in good condition. The mouthpiece shows normal cosmetic wear, exterior finish variation and insertion wear on the shank, but the rim, cup and large shank are round and free of significant damage. It has been inspected and is ready to play.

Priced at $165, this is an affordable opportunity for a large-bore tenor player to experience an authentic Monette Prana mouthpiece at substantially less than the cost of a current gold-plated example.
