Overview
This Edwards .525/.547 dual-bore tenor trombone slide was purchased directly from the Edwards factory in Wisconsin by its original owner and used occasionally for professional orchestral work. It is an exceptionally clean, well-preserved slide with outstanding action and no history of damage or repairs.
Yellow brass outer tubes are paired with a nickel silver end crook in Edwards’ full-width tenor slide configuration. One Edwards No. 3 removable leadpipe is included, accepting a small-shank mouthpiece. For a player looking for a slightly smaller bore option for an Edwards tenor or Bach 42B, this is a practical way to explore a different playing feel with an existing bell section.
Condition
There are no dents or dings, and the original lacquer is approximately 95% intact. The tubes are exceptionally straight, alignment is excellent, and the slide moves beautifully. It has never been damaged or repaired.
We inspected and went over this slide in-house at The Brass Exchange. No additional service is needed. In terms of smoothness, alignment, and playability, this is about as good as an Edwards slide gets. It is player ready.

Player Perspective
This slide offers an interesting option for players who enjoy their current tenor bell section but want the feel of a smaller upper slide bore. The .525/.547 combination brings a medium-bore starting point to a slide that opens into a .547 lower tube, while retaining the familiar width of a full Edwards tenor slide.
It is compatible with Edwards medium- and large-bore tenor valve sections, as well as Bach 42B valve and bell sections. Edwards uses the same slide connection thread system as Bach, making this a useful alternative for a Bach 42B player looking to try something slightly smaller.
The included No. 3 leadpipe accepts a standard small-shank mouthpiece. A small-shank 6½AL or 5G would be an excellent choice for this slide.
This combination is worth considering for principal trombone parts, upper-register work, Broadway shows, and musical theater playing where clarity, flexibility, and ease of response matter. Mouthpiece choice and the bell section will help shape the result, but the slide itself gives you an excellent foundation: straight tubes, precise alignment, and exceptionally smooth action.
